The Palomar Cactus and Succulent Society, San Diego's oldest Society founded in 1957 celebrates it's 40th anniversary this year. The Society brings together both professionals and amateurs with a common interest in succulent plants for the purpose of education, appreciation, and fellowship.
To accomplish these ends, the Society meets the fourth Saturday of each month (except Dec. and sometimes May and Nov. when we meet on the 3rd Sat.) at the Joslyn Senior Center, 724 N. Broadway in Escondido at 12:00 noon. During July and August the Society meets either at the Palomar College Cactus garden, Quail Gardens, or the Wild Animal Park.
Monthly programs are entertaining as well educational. Activities include a monthly "Brag Table" where members can showcase their plants and a plant exchange table. The Society also maintains an extensive library containing over 600 volumes for member use. Members maintain a 1.5 acre garden at Palomar College in San Marcos with over 2000 specimens and participate as volunteers in the "Baja Garden" and "Old World Succulent Garden" at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
